Dear Yvonne
I am sending you strength and courage with this situation! Its tricky because we always want to help the ones we love but there is no doubt that our efforts are not always welcome and they can be dis-empowering. I guess its the ultimate test of love to watch our children struggle, fall and get up on their feet and make their own journey. I know I personally dislike being told what to do!
Anyway, good luck! Love Anne xxx

Morning Anne I have just read your article and concur whole heartedly with you about "holding back/not stepping in to help a loved one" (albeit reluctantly). This scenario is playing out with my 18 year old daughter. I'm hoping the experience of living in a flat on her own (about 10 miles away) for the last couple of months will have given her space and time to focus on what's important in her life and to think about how she's going to move forwards. (I'll hold my hands up and say I've reluctantly stopped cleaning her kitchen when I go over to see her and subtlely passing on advice!!) Family life before she left home was fraught with tension, arguments etc etc. She's back home at the end of Aug which I welcome but with some apprehension! Ive learnt to hold back and even let go now. My daughter's decisions on the choices she makes in her life are owned by her now. I hope we can reunite as a family with respect and love for each other.
Kindest regards Yvonne
